Mace Windu

Mace Windu was a Force-sensitive human male Jedi Master and senior member of the Jedi High Council during the final years of the Galactic Republic. Born on the planet Haruun Kal, he was taken into the Jedi Order as a child, trained as the Padawan of Cyslin Myr and later under Grand Master Yoda, and rose to become one of the Order's most formidable warriors. He was renowned for wielding a distinctive amethyst-bladed lightsaber and for developing the aggressive lightsaber form known as Vaapad.

During the Clone Wars, Windu served as a Jedi General in the Grand Army of the Republic, leading forces in engagements such as the First Battle of Geonosis and the defense of Coruscant, and earning the name "The Hammer of Ryloth" for his role in liberating that world. As the war drew to a close he grew suspicious of Supreme Chancellor Palpatine and, upon learning that Palpatine was the Sith Lord Darth Sidious, confronted him. Windu bested Palpatine in the ensuing duel but was killed when Anakin Skywalker intervened on the Sith Lord's behalf, an act that preceded Palpatine's execution of Order 66.
