Prince Doran Martell is the head of House Martell, the ruling Prince of Dorne and Lord of Sunspear. Older brother of Elia and Oberyn Martell and father of Trystane, he is a patient, calculating ruler confined to a wheelchair by severe gout.
Wary of war, Doran resists Dornish calls to avenge his murdered sister and brother and instead pursues alliance with the Iron Throne, arranging his son Trystane's betrothal to Myrcella Baratheon and forbidding Ellaria Sand from acting against her. His restraint makes him unpopular at home, and he is ultimately murdered, together with Trystane, by Ellaria and the Sand Snakes. He appears across several seasons of Game of Thrones.
