Jadzia Dax is a joined Trill in the Star Trek universe, the eighth host of the Dax symbiont, best known as the science officer aboard the space station Deep Space 9 under Captain Benjamin Sisko. Through the symbiont she carries the memories and experiences of seven prior lifetimes.
Born in 2341, Jadzia was a driven and accomplished student who earned distinctions at Starfleet Academy and, after an initial rejection, became the only Trill to complete the Symbiosis Commission's program on a second application. She was joined with Dax in 2367 following the death of the symbiont's previous host, Curzon.
On Deep Space 9 she helped discover the Bajoran wormhole, embraced Klingon culture, and served with distinction during the Dominion War, commanding the USS Defiant. She was killed in 2374, after which the Dax symbiont passed to a new host, Ezri. The character is central to Star Trek: Deep Space Nine.
