T'Pol is a main character in Star Trek: Enterprise, a female Vulcan and the first of her people to serve aboard a Human starship for any substantial period. Originally an officer of the Vulcan High Command assigned to monitor the Earth vessel Enterprise NX-01, she came to serve as its science officer and first officer under Captain Jonathan Archer.
Over the course of Enterprise's early missions, T'Pol repeatedly chose the ship and its crew over the directives of the Vulcan High Command, at one point resigning her commission to remain aboard for the pivotal mission into the Delphic Expanse. Her long service alongside Humans, and her relationship with Commander Charles Tucker III, gradually reshaped her understanding of both Vulcan discipline and Human emotion.
