Matchstick was a clone trooper who served in the Republic Navy as a pilot of Shadow Squadron under the call sign "Shadow Two" during the Clone Wars. Both Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano knew him by name, and he was on friendly terms with his fellow pilot Broadside.
He flew with Shadow Squadron in the mission to destroy the Separatist warship Malevolence and protect the Kaliida Shoals Medical Center. After grazing a neebray manta on the approach, his fighter's damaged stabilizer gave out during the battle, sending his ship into a collision with fellow pilot Tag that killed both pilots and their gunners.
