Orson Callan Krennic was a human male Imperial officer who served as Director of the Advanced Weapons Research division of Imperial Intelligence. Ambitious and persistent, he oversaw the development and construction of the Death Star, the Galactic Empire's planet-killing superweapon, and for a time commanded the battle station.
Krennic manipulated his old friend, the crystallographer Galen Erso, into weaponizing kyber-crystal research for the station's superlaser, driven by his rivalry with Grand Moff Wilhuff Tarkin and his desire for Emperor Palpatine's favor. He commanded a squad of death troopers and was responsible for maintaining the project's secrecy across two decades of assembly.
