2-1B was a 2-1B-series surgical droid who served the Alliance to Restore the Republic as a medical droid. Possessing long experience with humans dating back to the days of the Old Republic, the droid was known for a caring bedside manner and for performing extremely precise operations that left little to no scarring.
Stationed alongside FX-7 at Echo Base on the ice world of Hoth, 2-1B treated Luke Skywalker with bacta after a wampa attack, and later tended to Skywalker aboard a Rebel medical frigate after his hand was severed in a duel with Darth Vader on Bespin. A 2-1B surgical droid identified as this individual was also present aboard the flagship Home One prior to the Battle of Endor.
