Firmus Piett was a human Imperial Navy officer who rose from the Outer Rim to become one of the most senior commanders of the Galactic Empire's fleet. Ambitious and politically shrewd, he served aboard the Super Star Destroyer Executor as part of Darth Vader's Death Squadron, ascending to the rank of Admiral after the failures of his superior officers.
Piett commanded the Executor during the pursuit of the Rebel Alliance, from the assault on Echo Base on Hoth to the climactic Battle of Endor. He was killed when a crippled Rebel starfighter crashed into the Executor's bridge, sending the flagship plunging into the second Death Star.
