Chirrut Imwe was a blind human male born on the moon Jedha and one of the Guardians of the Whills, an order of spiritual warrior-monks devoted to the Force and the kyber that lay at the heart of their home. A master of the Zama-shiwo martial art, he carried a uneti-wood staff and a handmade lightbow, and though he could not wield the Force himself, he found deep faith in his mantra that he was one with the Force and the Force was with him.
Active in Jedha City during the age of the Galactic Empire, Chirrut worked as an itinerant preacher alongside his close friend and protector Baze Malbus, resisting the Imperial occupation of their holy city. He later joined the Rebel volunteers of Rogue One who set out to steal the plans to the first Death Star.
