Kalani was an ST-series military strategic analysis and tactics droid—a 'super tactical droid'—manufactured by Baktoid Armor Workshop who served as a general in the Separatist Droid Army of the Confederacy of Independent Systems during the Clone Wars. Refusing to answer to his identification number, he adopted the name Kalani and commanded droid forces under the direction of Count Dooku.
Dispatched to Onderon during its civil war in 20 BBY, Kalani led the Separatist occupation and, at Dooku's command, executed the puppet king Sanjay Rash before withdrawing to Agamar. Believing the war's end and the deactivation order that accompanied Order 66 to be a Republic trick, he kept himself and his droids active for years, until a chance encounter with Phoenix rebels led him to finally conclude that the Clone Wars were over.
