Dain II Ironfoot is a Dwarf king of Durin's Folk, Lord of the Iron Hills and later the fifth King under the Mountain. As a young dwarf he slew the great Orc Azog at the Battle of Azanulbizar, avenging his father.
He marched from the Iron Hills to aid his cousin Thorin Oakenshield and arrived in time for the Battle of Five Armies, becoming King under the Mountain after Thorin's death. During the War of the Ring he refused Sauron's offers and fell at the Battle of Dale, defending the body of King Brand before the gates of Erebor. In The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies he is portrayed riding a war-boar.
