Glóin, son of Gróin, is a Dwarf of Durin's Folk and one of the company of Thorin Oakenshield that set out to reclaim the Lonely Mountain from the dragon Smaug. He is the father of Gimli, who later joins the Fellowship of the Ring.
A seasoned warrior who fought in his youth at the Battle of Azanulbizar and later at the Battle of Five Armies, Glóin represents Erebor with his son at the Council of Elrond. He is portrayed by Peter Hambleton in Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy and appears briefly, played by John Rhys-Davies, in The Fellowship of the Ring. His battles are listed in the Timeline.
