Anarion was the younger son of Elendil and, with his brother Isildur, a joint founder and ruler of the southern kingdom of Gondor after the Downfall of Numenor. He made his seat at Minas Anor and held one of the palantiri.
He fought in the War of the Last Alliance, helping to defend Gondor against Sauron, and was slain during the Siege of Barad-dur. The kingship of Gondor passed to his son Meneldil and his descendants. He is referenced in the series The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
