Ereinion Gil-galad is the last High King of the Ñoldor in Middle-earth and King of Lindon. Wielding the spear Aeglos, he rules the Elves of the West through the Second Age and, distrusting the disguised Sauron, warns the Elves against the stranger Annatar.
Gil-galad forms the Last Alliance of Elves and Men with Elendil and leads the Elves to war against Sauron, falling at the Siege of Barad-dûr in a struggle that allows Isildur to take the One Ring. His death marks the end of the Ñoldorin kingdoms in Middle-earth. He appears briefly in the prologue of The Fellowship of the Ring and is portrayed by Benjamin Walker in The Rings of Power; see the Timeline for his battles.
