Durin IV is a Prince and later King of Durin's Folk in Khazad-dum, the son of Durin III and husband of Disa, with whom he has two children, Gerda and Gamli. More open-minded than his isolationist father, he is a close friend of the Elf Elrond and central to the Dwarves' entanglement with the Elves over mithril in The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power.
In Tolkien's writings he inherited his father's Ring of Power and was reigning during the War of the Last Alliance, commanding the Longbeards to aid the Elves and Men. The character is portrayed by Owain Arthur. This overview summarizes source material under CC BY-SA; see the Timeline for chronology.
