Elendil the Tall is a lord of Numenor in Tolkien's legendarium, appearing in Peter Jackson's The Fellowship of the Ring and as a major character in The Rings of Power, where he is played by Lloyd Owen. A leader of the Faithful, he leads the survivors of Numenor's Downfall to Middle-earth and founds the realms of Arnor and Gondor as the first High King of the Dunedain.
He is the father of Isildur and Anarion, and he falls alongside the Elven-king Gil-galad in the war against Sauron at the end of the Second Age. This overview draws on screen and source material; see the Timeline for a chronological account. Content is available under CC BY-SA.
