Gothmog, the Lieutenant of Minas Morgul, was a commander of Sauron's forces during the assault on Gondor, directing the armies that poured onto the Pelennor Fields after the fall of the Witch-king. He should not be confused with his far older namesake, Gothmog the Balrog, Lord of the Balrogs of Morgoth.
In Peter Jackson's The Return of the King he is depicted as a deformed Morannon orc-general who oversees the siege of Minas Tirith and is slain by Aragorn and Gimli in the film's extended edition. He was performed by Lawrence Makoare and voiced by Craig Parker. His role at the Pelennor is detailed in the Timeline.
