Qui-Gon Jinn was a Force-sensitive human male Jedi Master who lived during the last years of the Republic Era. A wise but maverick figure, he adhered to a philosophy centered on the Living Force and was known for following the will of the Force even when it conflicted with the wishes of the Jedi High Council, which offered him a seat that he declined. Trained as the Padawan of Dooku, he in turn took Obi-Wan Kenobi as his own apprentice.
Dispatched with Kenobi to resolve the Trade Federation's blockade of Naboo, Qui-Gon encountered the young Anakin Skywalker and became convinced that the boy was the Chosen One of Jedi prophecy. He was slain by the Sith Lord Darth Maul during the duel at Theed, and his dying wish was for Skywalker to be trained as a Jedi. He is also remembered as the first Jedi known to have retained his identity within the Force after death.
