Thráin II was King under the Mountain and King of Durin's Folk, son of Thrór and father of Thorin Oakenshield, Frerin, and Dís. A direct descendant of Durin the Deathless, he led his people into exile after Smaug seized Erebor and later summoned the Dwarven houses to war after his father was slain by the Orc Azog.
He fought at the climactic Battle of Azanulbizar, where he was gravely wounded, and was later captured and imprisoned in Dol Guldur, where Sauron took the last of the Dwarven Rings of Power from him.
