Gorbag was a cunning Orc captain originally of Minas Morgul who commanded a patrol near Cirith Ungol. When he and the rival captain Shagrat discovered Frodo Baggins cocooned by the spider Shelob, a dispute over the Hobbit's mithril shirt erupted into a deadly brawl between their companies.
In the source books Gorbag is killed by Shagrat; in Peter Jackson's The Return of the King his role is altered and he is slain by Samwise Gamgee. He was portrayed by Stephen Ure.
