Arwen

Arwen Undómiel, called the Evenstar, was the Half-elven daughter of Elrond and Celebrían of Rivendell and, through her mother, granddaughter of Galadriel of Lothlórien. Born in the Third Age, she held the right to choose between the immortality of the Elves and a mortal life.

She met Aragorn in Rivendell and, decades later on the hill of Cerin Amroth, plighted her troth to him, choosing mortality to remain with him in Middle-earth. During the War of the Ring she wove the royal standard that was unfurled at the Pelennor Fields to herald the King's return, and she later ceded her place on the ships to Valinor to Frodo Baggins.

After Aragorn was crowned, Arwen married him and became Queen of the Reunited Kingdom, mother of Eldarion. On screen she is portrayed by Liv Tyler in Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy, where she also bears Frodo to safety across the Ford of Bruinen.
