Treebeard, also called Fangorn, is the oldest of the Ents and a shepherd of trees, dwelling in Fangorn Forest. Gandalf names him the oldest living thing that still walks beneath the Sun in Middle-earth.
When Meriadoc Brandybuck and Peregrin Took befriend him and reveal Saruman's destruction of the forest, an angry Treebeard summons an Entmoot and leads the Last March of the Ents against Isengard, helping to break its walls and flood it. In Peter Jackson's films he is voiced by John Rhys-Davies and appears in The Two Towers and The Return of the King.
