Ori was a Dwarf of Durin's Folk and a member of Thorin and Company on the Quest of Erebor, travelling with his brothers Dori and Nori. Younger and gentler than most of the Company, he was a scribe rather than a warrior, though he proved his courage on the road to the Lonely Mountain.
Ori fought in and survived the Battle of Five Armies and later settled in Erebor. He joined Balin's expedition to reclaim Moria, where the colony was overwhelmed by Orcs; Ori made the final entries in the Book of Mazarbul and died in the last stand at the Chamber of Mazarbul, his body found still clutching the book when the Fellowship passed years later.
