Bolg was an Orc leader of the Northern Orcs of the Misty Mountains in the late Third Age and the son of Azog. After his father's death at the Battle of Azanulbizar he took up rule over the goblins from the old refuge of Mount Gundabad.
Roughly a century and a half later he led an army of goblins, Wargs, and bats to the Lonely Mountain and fought in the Battle of Five Armies. In Tolkien's account he was crushed there by the skin-changer Beorn, who thereby avenged the mortally wounded Thorin Oakenshield.
In Peter Jackson's Hobbit trilogy, played by Lawrence Makoare and John Tui, Bolg is a towering Gundabad Orc and his father's second-in-command who hunts Thorin's Company, slays Kíli at Ravenhill, and is finally killed by Legolas.
